Leaf Forward Kicks-Off Canada's First Cannabis Business Accelerator

Leaf Forward, Canada's first cannabis business accelerator, launched successfully, hosting two founders classes, where twelve cannabis startups participated in a full day of intensive mentoring with industry leaders. A broad range of cannabis businesses were represented including cultivation solutions for the home grower, extraction and refinement services for licensed cultivators as well as ancillary products for the end user.

Alex Blumenstein wasn’t sure what would come of Leaf Toronto, a monthly cannabis meet-up that he started with fellow Torontonians Brett Chang and Taylor Scollon earlier this year.

The trio of young adults started the monthly meetup because they wanted to get more involved in the industry. Between the three of them, they had years of communications and public affairs experience, and they saw a big gap in the Canadian cannabis sector.

Leaf Forward, which claims to be the country’s first cannabis business accelerator program, will provide early stage ancillary businesses with mentoring, networking and learning opportunities. The program doesn’t provide seed money.
